So, did the training really do what it set out to do? Do I have the time to find out, as I am really overloaded with preparing for the next training programme?

I have found that the evaluation of training is generally a phase that is optional in organisations i.e. things are so busy anyway, it's hard to go beyond the smile sheets at the end of a training class. While this may sound cynical, i would like to point out that:

  • I have seen it to be true in almost all of the organisations that I have worked both in and with - despite what they said they were doing in the way of training evaluation

  • I believe that proper assessment and evaluation is essential to organisational effectiveness in these hyper-busy and competitive times.
